A new horse barn and arena located on a historic ranch close to the California coast. The site is located in a flat river valley bordered by steep hills on each side. The location enjoys views along the valley and towards the adjacent hills. The building consists of two wings connected by a breezeway, a long low wing contain stalls and a more articulated wing containing tack rooms, an office and other service elements. A corner tower echoes the historic wooden water towers of the California coast and gives views over the property and the new arena below. The building is framed in exposed wood with clearstory windows giving natural light and air to the aisles and stalls.
Exterior materials include standing seam metal roofing, board and batt siding, Douglas fir exposed framing and stone wall cladding. Site materials include fieldstone walls and steel pipe fencing.
